Abstract

Based on the theory of statistical thermodynamics, and with the concept of the residual function in chemical engineering thermodynamics, a new equation to estimate the heat of vaporization for pure compounds at normal boiling point has been derived. Combined with the Wang—Shi equation, another new equation to estimate the heat of vaporization for pure compounds is proposed. With these two new equations, the heats of vaporization for 157 kinds of pure compounds at normal boiling point and the heats of vaporization of 245 pure compounds at 7574 temperature sets respectively are estimated. Compared with experimental data, the overall absolute average deviations are respectively 1.29% and 1.77%, and this is superior to the literature deviations.
