Abstract

Gas holdup has been estimated in air-water froths from electrical conductivity measurements using the “standard addition method”. The technique was verified by estimating the liquid conductivity as well as gas holdup and comparing with independent estimates. The technique was used to measure gas holdup as a function of position in a froth. The resulting “gas holdup profile” suggests a greater variation than in previous work.
