Abstract

The evapotranspiration rate (ET) for the potato crop has been measured. A relationship between the measured ET for four seasons (1964–1965, 1965–1966, 1966–1967 and 1968–1969) and temperature, wind velocity, sunshine hours, vapour pressure deficit and soil moisture suction has been developed. The ET has been estimated and found to fit the measured ET for 1969–1970 reasonably well and as such it can be employed for estimating the ET for the potato crop at Kalyani, West Bengal.
