Abstract

Due to price increase of fossil fuels and related environmental pollution, development and utilization of alternative and renewable energy sources is an important topic in Korean agriculture, especially for protected crop production, as in other countries and industrial areas. Photovoltaic power is considered as one of the most promising alternative energy source for protected crop production. Effects of environment, type of solar cell, method of installation and operation on power generation performance should be investigated for design and application of photovoltaic system suitable for specific crop, season, and location, but related research has been limited. In this study, electricity generation of a solar-tracking photovoltaic system was investigated. First, collected original data were preprocessed to remove possible outliers. Second, theoretical effects of solar radiation and module temperature were verified with collected data. Third, previous models of power generation were evaluated and new models were developed with the data. Results of the study would be useful for selection and application of optimum photovoltaic systems by farmers.
