Abstract
Yield loss caused by root knot nematode in gerbera (Gerberajamesonii Hook) was assessed as 30.21 to 36.90 per cent, respectively in experiments run twice simultaneously with different varieties, viz. Alabanda Red and Palm Beach Yellow. Significant reduction in shoot length, root length and shoot weight were observed due to root knot nematode infestation. Regarding the flower yield, infestation due to M. incognita in gerbera variety Alabanda Red and Palm Beach Yellow significantly decreased the floweryield 134 and 106No m−2 recorded in untreated crop as against 192 and 168 No m−2, respectively in carbofuran treated crop. The nematode also deteriorates the quality parameters of gerbera, viz. stalk length and flower diameter.
