Abstract

A simple procedure for estimating nuclear quadrupolar apparent spin-spin relaxation time, T;, using a super-regenerative spectrometer was presented earlier [l]. The basic element in the spectrometer incorporated a valve oscillator. The aim of the present study was to examine whether an extremely simple form of the Ratemeter-type spectrometer f2] using a mosfet oscillator in place of the valve oscillator could be used in a similar way to estimate the T; of 35Cl in sodium chlorate. This system and procedure have been found to be quite efficacious for this purpose and it is therefore suggested that they could be used to supplement Ts values obtained with more sophisticated instruments; moreover, the spectrometer can be built easily by students for their studies.
