Abstract

A radon screening survey of 719 residences in Nova Scotia was performed using liquid scintillation charcoal canisters. The readings have been correlated with an aerial radiometric survey map of the 1.76-MeV gamma emission of 214Bi, which is plotted in terms of uranium parts per million equivalent. A good correlation exists, suggesting that this particular map could be used to indicate the potential for radon problems in particular geographic areas.
