Abstract

Results from semi-structured interviews suggest a strong incentive for beekeeping in the region around Mt Oku, north-west Cameroon. There is evidence that the Kilum-Ijim forest alone can produce 247 950 litres of honey each year, worth at least US$165 300. A great majority of beekeepers participate in forest conservation, as beekeeping is compatible with forest conservation.
