Abstract

A heterostructure formed by insertion of a cubic 3C region between hexagonal “plates” is considered. It is assumed that the spontaneous polarization is proportional to the degree of hexagonality of the “plates.” On this assumption, the electrostatic fields in the cubic region are calculated and the position of the 2D subbands is determined. The energy of quasidirect and indirect excitonic transitions is evaluated in terms of the models of triangular and rectangular wells. The estimates for the 4H/3C/4H system show quite satisfactory agreement with the results of other calculations and with experimental data.
