Abstract

Recent calculations using a hyperspherical basis set have yielded the lowest energies yet found for the p, d, ...i limit energies for ground-state helium and showed that prior estimates of the angular energy increments were too small. Empirical fits of the new calculated angular energy increments are used to estimate the exact energy increments. An empirical formula, E=−2.87902859−Σk=1 l{0.078177278[k (k+1)]−2+0.015603056[k (k+1)]−3}, is obtained for accurate helium l-limit energies.
