Abstract

The β +-branch of the decay of the 42Sc 0 + ground state to the 1.836 MeV 0 + state in 42Ca is estimated in a 1435 1098 simple Coulomb mixing model, which relates this branch to Coulomb displacement energies in 0 + isotriplets and off-diagonal Coulomb matrix elements. The estimates obtained are very small, ≈ 10 −4, which is consistent with current experimental data.
