Abstract
RATIONALE: Ciclesonide, an intranasal corticosteroid under investigation for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, is administered as an inactive compound and is converted to its active metabolite, desisobutyryl-ciclesonide (des-CIC), in the upper and lower airways via intracellular esterases. This study was conducted to identify the esterases involved in metabolism of CIC to des-CIC in HNEC.
