Abstract

In this article, I present the detailed analysis of the magazine Proteo. Semanario de Arte y Variedades, a forgotten publication in which Ramón López Velarde collaborated with some unpublished texts, including a letter, and others proses already published previously. In this sense, I first reconstruct the production context of the magazine; then, I study and describe its materiality: publication context, editorial line, collaborators, illustrators, sections, material evolution, etc.; finally, I value the presence and repercussions of López Velarde in that publication and in the work of the editors of Proteo, in order to demonstrate that this author is an emblem among young people in the Mexican province, even though he had only published one book for 1917, La sangre devota (1916).
