Abstract

Objective To establish the biological reference interval for urinary albumin and urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (ACR) in healthy adults of 20-89 years old in Lianyungang area. Methods According to the inclusion criteria, 715 healthy people (20-89 years old) were selected, the fresh urine was taken, the urinary albumin (immunoturbidimetric method) and urine creatinine concentration were measured, and ACR was calculated. According to CLSI C28-A2 and WS/T 402-2012 laboratory test project reference interval formulation recommendation methods, Z test was used to analyze the data and establish the corresponding urine albumin and ACR reference interval. Results The Z test showed no significant difference between urinary albumin concentration of the same sex (P>0.05), does not need to establish the reference range according to the age, and the urinary albumin concentration was higher in male than that in female (P<0.05); Z test showed that the urinary ACR concentration had differences in gender and age (P<0.05), and the corresponding reference interval was established according to gender and age groups. Urinary albumin and ACR had abormal distribution, so the ninety-fifth percentile (P95) was used to establish reference interval: urinary albumin reference interval for male 0-20.72 mg/L, female 0-18.54 mg/L; urinary ACR reference interval: male (20-59 years old) 0-13.97 mg/g, male(60-89 years old) 0-20.58 mg/g, female (20-59 years old) 0-20.12 mg/g, women (60-89 years old) 0-25.27 mg/g. Conclusions Urinary albumin and ACR reference intervals of healthy population in Lianyungang are significantly lower than the currently recommended clinical reference interval; it need to consider gender differences to establish different reference intervals of urinary albumin, and it need to establish different reference intervals of urinary ACR according to sex and age differences. Key words: Urinary albumin; Albumin-creatinine ratio; Biological reference interval
