Abstract
This paper presents the establishment of an interior permanent-magnet synchronous generator (IPMSG) and its applications in constructing standard generator system and DC micro-grid (uG) system. First, the IPMSG followed by three-phase Vienna switch-mode rectifier (SMR) is developed. Its optimal output power is achieved via proper commutation setting and tuning, and the proposed robust current and voltage controls. Second, a single-phase three-wire (1P3W) inverter is constructed to serve as the test load. Good 220V/110V AC output voltage waveforms with well-regulated dynamic characteristics are preserved by the developed simple robust waveform tracking control scheme. Third, a battery energy storage system (BESS) is equipped for making the energy storage support management study. Good dynamic and static control performances under charging and discharging operations are also obtained via robust control. In autonomous uG operation, the droop control for BESS is adopted to achieve successful energy management control performance of an IPMSG-based wind generator system. Some experimental results are provided to demonstrate the operation performances of the established IPMSG system in both conventional generator and wind generator operations.
