Abstract
Physical therapists have long been involved in the postoperative care of children with a diagnosis of bone and soft-tissue sarcoma. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health model provides a guide to identify impairments, performance limitations, and participation restrictions in this population. The Pediatric Oncology Special Interest Group of the APTA Oncology Section is determined to use this information to facilitate improvements in the treatment of these children. Specifically, a Limb Sparing Committee has been formed to more clearly develop and define the role of physical therapy in the management of pediatric patients with sarcoma.
