Brings the work of Caribbean poet and Australian scholar Penny van Toorn into conversation. 'Given van Toom's emphasis on the tactics of Indigenous engagement with the dominant ( colonising) culture, Senior's notion of an ambushed pen provides a nice point of connection between two story-tellers and the marginalised cultures with which they engage.'
