Abstract
Advanced practice provider (APP) vacancy rates contribute to staffing shortfalls impacting many health care systems. These vacancies are caused by turnover, absenteeism, and medical leaves, and can result in medical errors, employee stress, provider burnout, patient and provider dissatisfaction, and lost revenue. This paper summarizes the experience of the development and implementation of the APP resource team within a single organization to address APP staffing shortages. Challenges and lessons learned will be described. The decade success of this novel program has led to an increase in the number of full-time equivalents employed on the resource team.
