Abstract“Property, Real Estate & Development” (MIC: SIC: 6798 NAIC: 525930)Essex Property Trust operates as a self‐administered and self‐managed real estate investment trust. Co. is engaged primarily in the ownership, operation, management, acquisition, development and redevelopment of real estate. The majority of Co.'s real estate consists of apartment communities. As of Dec 31 2007, Co. owned or held an interest in 134 apartment communities, aggregating 27,489 units, located predominantly along the West Coast. Co.'s other properties included two recreational vehicle parks totaling 338 spaces, six office buildings that Co. primarily occupies and uses as office space, and one manufactured housing community containing 157 pads.
