AbstractProperty, Real Estate & Development (MIC: 8.3 SIC: 6798 NAIC: 525930)Essex Property Trust is a self‐administered equity real estate investment trust engaged in the ownership, operation, management, acquisition, development and re‐development of real estate. Co.'sreal estate consists primarily of apartment communities. As of Dec 31 2005, Co. owned or held an interest in 126 apartment communities, aggregating 26,587 units, located predominantly along the West Coast. Co.'s other properties included three recreational vehicle parks (totaling 562 spaces), three office buildings (totaling approximately 166,340 square feet), which Co. primarily occupies and uses as office space, and one manufactured housing community (containing 157 pads).
