Abstract
The goal of this section is to refresh the physical concepts underlying quantum physics and specifically quantum dynamical system. For more details, the reader is referred to several excellent books and lecture notes, on which this chapter is loosely based (Alicki, Quantum dynamical semigroups and applications, Springer Science & Business Media, Berlin, 1987; Alicki and Fannes, Quantum dynamical systems, Oxford University Press, Oxford, 2001; Benatti et al., Quantum information, computation and cryptography: an introductory survey of theory, technology and experiments, Springer Science & Business Media, Berlin, 2010; Bratteli and Robinson, Operator algebras and quantum statistical mechanics 1, Springer, Berlin, 1987; Bratteli and Robinson, Operator algebras and quantum statistical mechanics equilibrium states. Models in quantum statistical Mechanics, Springer, Berlin, 1997; Holevo, Statistical structure of quantum theory, Springer Science & Business Media, Berlin, 2001; Peres, Quantum theory: concepts and methods, Springer Science & Business Media, Berlin, 1995).
