Abstract

The benthonic microfauna (Foraminifera and Ostracoda) were examined in acore from the abyssal plain of the Bay of Biscay consisting of alternating sandy and muddy layers. The sandy layers are characterised by mixed faunal associations from differing depths. The distinction between the various faunal groups indicates the conditions of sedimentation and variations of the coast line.
