Abstract

"This article aims to propose an analysis’ model for the interjection “Oh” which would refute some of the presuppositions carried by this category (emotivity, non-intentionalité, etc.) By using (mostly English) contemporary conversational’s analysis’ methods on a large Middle French corpus, we build a model based on objectives parameters which will encompass all occurrences. It will thus appear that the uses of “Oh” hinges around the autonomous/responsive variable, and that this interjection can be uttered to state the epistemic position of the speaker at a given time."
