Abstract

An apparatus was constructed which combined ESR spectroscopy with a probing technique for the determination of hydrogen and oxygen free radical concentrations in premixed gas flames. The position of the probe which sampled the gas flame could be adjusted so that concentration profiles of the flames could be determined. Molecular oxygen was used to standardize the instrument. The concentration profiles of hydrogen and oxygen free radicals in the propane-oxygen gas flame were determined.
