Abstract

ESR results of low concentrated systems Pb1-x{Gd,Sc}xF2+x at temperatures up to 775 K are reported. At room temperature, ESR-spectra of single crystals and polycrystalline samples show three sets of lines which are correlated to different Gd-sites. The observed shift of the line positions with increasing temperature is caused by the decreasing crystal field interaction. There is no temperature dependence of the differential linewidth until about 600 K. At higher temperatures we observed a drastic increase of the linewidth, correlated to the faster relaxation upon transition to the superionic state.
