Abstract
Electron spin resonance spectra of Na 2SO 4ZnSO 4 glasses doped with VO 2+ ions are reported at 300 K for different composition of the glasses. The spin-Hamiltonian parameters are determined from the ESR spectrum. The optical absorption spectra has also been studied. By correlating the ESR and optical spectral data, the molecular orbital coefficients have been evaluated. ESR and optical absorption studies reveal the VO 2+ ions go substitutionally to zinc ion sites.
