Abstract

A person who excavates or has a place excavated to find a treasure with or without permission is called a treasure hunter. hunting is a right given to citizens in our Civil Code. Those who would like to can search for treasures in accordance with the provisions of the Treasure Hunting Regulation which was introduced in the Official Gazette numbered 18294 on 27.01.1984 based on the Code of Protection of Cultural and Natural Properties. If the treasure hunt is carried out legally, there is no likelihood of causing any damage to an old artifact since there can be no treasure hunting in areas where old artifacts are located. The excavation is called off immediately when an artifact is encountered in an area which was thought to be free of artifacts. In this work, the destruction to artifacts under illegal treasure-hunting excavations is examined.
