Abstract

The War of Independence is the origin of several social changes, where the Constitution of 1812 and the decrees of the Courts act as supports. In this new context, the press and the political papers play a fundamental role in order to spread the debates had between the supporters of the new society (liberals) and the defenders of absolutism (“serviles”). Women also participated in this debate, in spite of a lesser extent than men, they don’t hesitate to express their views and analyse the constitutional system to show their adhesion or discredit its principles.
