Abstract

Hidden in the southern Pampas: Photographic records and phenotypic variation of Leopardus pajeros The Southern pampas cat (Leopardus pajeros) is a small felid whose range is restricted to Argentina and southern Chile. There is very little specific literature and its natural history remains an enigma. In the present note, we report four records of the Southern pampas cat in Patagonia and provide photographs and detailed descriptions, from which we propose a phenotypic spectrum ranging from light gray, to brownish gray, to rusty red.
