Abstract

Erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) is a rare photosensitivity disorder characterized by intense pain in areas of cutaneous sun exposure. The disease typically presents in infancy or childhood and can be accompanied by little to no clinical evidence supporting an organic origin for the pain.
