Abstract

A 67-year-old woman presented to the Family Medicine Skin Clinic for evaluation of bilateral axillary lesions that appeared 4 months earlier. The patient reported no changes in deodorants or detergents and said that the rash would wax and wane slightly, but it never resolved. She noted that application of an over-the-counter antifungal cream and powder caused an increase in inflammation. A scraping of the scale for a potassium hydroxide (KOH) preparation test was negative for fungal elements. What’s your diagnosis?
