Abstract

Erythema multiforme is an acute, self-limiting condition with characteristic “target-like” lesions that involve the skin and mucous membranes. It affects subjects of all ages, with a higher incidence among young adults and adolescents. The main factors involved are infectious agents. Most commonly erythema multiforme was reported in association with herpes simplex virus infection. However, in many cases, to identify the etiology is difficult. We present a case of erythema multiforme major in a 25-year-old male patient, secondary to Coxiella burnetti infection, a rare infection in our country.
