Abstract

Eruptive vellus hair cysts (EVHCs) were first described by Esterly, Fretzin, and Pinkus 1 in 1977, who proposed a pathogenic mechanism involving inherently abnormal vellus hair follicles with keratinous plugs of the follicular infundibula deflecting the vellus hair shafts. The lesions can occur at any age and several cases of spontaneous regression have been reported. 2,3 An autosomal dominant inheritance was observed in some families. 4,5 We report a case of hidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (HED) associated with EVHCs.
