Abstract

PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF COMMON CAMOMILE APPLICATION ON AUTISTIC PATIENTS - Three case reports BACKGROUND: Problems such as lack of eye contact and the absence of social interaction (expressive language) play an important role in reducing the efficiency of pedagogical intervention in patients suffering from far reaching developmental disorders. Complementary psychopharmacological therapy is therefore essential in improving the symptomatology. METHODS: We observed the effect of a common camomile preparation on three male patients suffering from autism. The patients were included in the study due to the inadequacy of their eye contact and expressive language to correspond to their developmental level and irresponsiveness to psychopharmacological therapy with methylphenidate, clonidine or desipramine. RESULTS: Treatment with the MATRICARIA RECUTITA preparation led a slight improvement in irritability and stereotypies.
