Abstract
To the Editor:— I have had a large number of calls recently in regard to temporary licensure for the practice of medicine in New York State from physicians who wish to come to New York State under such an arrangement. One of the applicants referred to an article he had read inThe Journal of the American Medical Association. I find in the September 25 issue on page 215, in the middle of the fifth paragraph of the article entitled Doctor Shortage and Civilian Health in War Time the following statement: Only seven states have laws permitting temporary licensure. These are Delaware, Maine, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Washington, New York and Montana. I understand that this article is a comprehensive report prepared by the Office of War Information.
