Abstract

Abstract Fundamental to the success of adaptive mesh generation – and adaptive methods in general – is the use of reliable and efficient error estimators. A reliable error estimator is one which can bound above and below the norm of the error. An efficient error estimator is one which does not dramatically over or underestimate the error.
