Abstract

In an article in the 1 January 2001 issue of the Journal (Johnson JR, Delavari P, Kuskowski M, Stell AL. Phylogenetic distribution of extraintestinal virulence-associated traits in Escherichia coli. J Infect Dis 2001; 183:78–88), there are errors in figure 1. Of the 144 serotype designations shown, 15 contain 1 or more errors in comparison with the corresponding source data. Corrected serotypes (in parentheses) from the Thomas Whittam Web site (http://www.bio.psu.edu/People/Faculty/Whittam/Lab/ecor/) for the following Escherichia coli reference (ECOR) strains are as follows (left serotype column in figure 1): ECOR 58 (O112:H8), 26 (O104:H21), 45 (ON:HM), 29 (O150:H21), and 30 (O113:H21). Corrected serotypes (in parentheses) from Amor et al. (Amor K, Heinrisch DE, Frirdich E, Ziebell K, Johnson RP, Whitfield C. Distribution of core oligosaccharide types in lipopolysaccharides from Escherichia coli. Infect Immun 2000; 68:1116–24) for the following ECOR strains are as follows (right serotype column in figure 1): ECOR 13 (OR:H25), 23 (O25:H1), 67 (O141:H49), 26 (O104:H21), 68 (O25:H21), 71 (OR:H19), 54 (O25:H1), 46 (O1:H−), 49 (O2:H4), and 47 (O17:H34).
