First paragraph of results section Rats consuming the high-fat diet displayed a moderate increase in body weight (9.36%, P < 0.05 vs. controls) (Table 1). Fasting insulin and glucose plasma levels were significantly increased in response to the high-fat feeding regimen vs. matched controls, that is, 57.88 vs. 32.62 μU and 8.22 vs. 6.03 mmol/L respectively.
