Abstract

Regarding the article, “Effect of delayed thrombolysis with rt-PA in a rat embolic stroke model,” by Overgaard K, Sereghy T, Pedersen H, and Boysen G which appeared in the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism (1994;14:472–477), please note the following: On page 473, right column, bottom line 15 the following sentence should be included: In all 12 animals of the rt-PA 15 minute delay group, the brains were removed immediately and frozen in isopenthane. On page 475, right column, bottom, fourth paragraph, top line 8, and to the legend of table include the following comments: The group of 34 control animals was identical to the control group of two other papers ( 1 , 2 ). The rt-PA 15 minute delay group of 12 animals was also used in two other papers and identical to the groups: Treated B( 3 ) and rt-PA 20 mg/kg( 1 ). The rt-PA 120 minute delay group of 26 animals was identical to group 3 in reference 4. The corrected exact timing of the two angiography follows: Controls, delay 15 and 30: 120 minutes, delay 60: 135 minutes, delay 120: 195 minutes, delay 240: 315 minutes. Comments The freeze-fixation of the rt-PA 15 minute delay group might have influenced the hemisphere volume, but not the infarct volume with a median value of 0, because 9 out of 12 rats in this group had no infarctions, and the remaining 3 only very small infarcts.
