Abstract

’’ chaired by Mario Giannella (Univer-sity of Camerino, Italy). Specifically, the meetingfocused on the involvement of cholinergic and adrener-gic receptors in neurodegenerative and cardiovasculardiseases, respectively, and also provided an update onsigma-, imidazoline-, excitatory amino acid-,chemokine-, kappa opiod-, ICAM-1-, and neuro-trophin-receptors. Almost 200 participants in an inter-national audience, composed principally of chemists,biochemists and pharmacologists, spent the five days ofthe conference in the eye-catching medieval setting ofthe University of Camerino and enjoyed both the scien-tific and cultural programs. Despite some residual dam-age from the earthquake of 1997, the town again put itsbest face forward for a very successful meeting.
