Abstract

D. Hubbard Department of Geology, Oberlin College, Oberlin, OH, USA Fig. 11 Percent live coral cover (y-axis) in the ancient reef, as defined as the sum of line transects of corals with taphogrades 1 and 2. a High live coral cover (around 80%) at 25-m intervals in the massive zone along the event bed is well above modern Caribbean reef levels and reflects a strict paleo-reef surface. b Nonevent transects suggest lower live coral (±60%) in the massive and other reef zones. This lower cover probably reflect time averaging along the horizontal transects that were not strict time horizons and local variation within the reef tract. Error bars in b are 95% confidence intervals
