Abstract

The Research/Researchers article titled “Oxford University Makes Breakthrough in Atom Probe Research” (May 1988, p. 8) did not mention that the pinhole aperture on the atom probe was replaced with a wide-angle position sensitive detector to enable three-dimensional reconstruction of the atomic chemistry of a specimen. While VG Scientific will manufacture the one-dimensional atom probe, another company will market the new development, for which a patent has been filed.
