Abstract

The paper 'The shapes of galaxy clusters' was published in Mon. Not. R. Astron Soc. 273,30-46(1995). Our description of the work of PBF in Section 2.2 was incomplete, as their analysis was based on about 400 clusters instead of ∼100. Also, our description in Section 2.2, as well as in Fig. 3 (bottom panel), may suggest that their e-estimates are based only at the overdensity level at which the clusters are defined. However, they have also analysed the cluster shape at lower overdensity levels, and therefore their e-estimates are in general based on more than the 6-8 cells mentioned in Section 4.3.
