Abstract

The aim of this study is to minimize the corrosion effect of moving fluids in a pipe by design variable. The pipes used for fluid transport in the petrochemical industry have different designs. SolidWorks program is used for 3D studies considering two different pipe designs. Intra-pipe flow analyses are performed based on the finite volume method by using computational fluids dynamics program-Ansys Fluent. 90 ° sharp elbow pipe and rounded elbow pipe are used for analyses. Flow velocity, pressure, the turbulence kinetic energy, turbulence eddy dissipation, eddy viscosity, and erosion rate for each model have been obtained in the results of the analysis for two different pipes. The geometrical structure of the rounded elbow pipe model allows turbulence and hence eddy formation less than the 90 ° sharp elbow pipe.
