Abstract
Abstract Wear and corrosion aspect in materials are the main concern in any industrial sector. Co-Ni-Fe coating can be used to protect materials from corrosion and wear. The purpose of this study is to investigate the wear and adhesive performance of Co-Ni-Fe coated onto mild steel. The coating was fabricated by using the electrodeposition method. The slurry erosion test was performed at different speeds, which were 500, 1000 and 1500 rpm for 12 hours at 2 hours interval. The pull off load using epoxy adhesive was applied until the failure of the coating occured. At 500 rpm, there was no significant weight loss. At 1000 and 1500 rpm, the weight loss was increased as the time was increased. The pull off test showed the coating was not removed from the substrate. This showed that the coating was intact with the substrate. As a conclusion, Co-Ni-Fe coating could contribute to industries such as marine, manufacturing, oil and gas sectors where it can enhance the life span of materials and at the same time protect the substrate from the erosion wear attack.
