Abstract

The erosion of alloys of the TiC-TiB2 system decreases with increasing duration of treatment. The most intense erosion has been found to be exhibited by the alloy of eutectic composition, corresponding to the eutectic point in the constitution diagram. The hypothesis is advanced that the internal stress generated during solidification is greater in the eutectic than in a noneutectic alloy.
