Abstract

This article outlines some of the contributions of Erik Erikson's theory of psychosocial development in providing a developmental perspective on career behavior. While Erikson's theory has not been traditionally regarded as a “vocational developmental theory” the theory appears to be of importance in comprehending the developmental nature of vocational behavior. A brief overview of Eirkson's theory is presented and possible contributions of the theory towards enhancing understanding of career development are noted.
