Abstract

This study focused on the work of packing workers in a sausage factory. The prevalence of upper limb problems found with the packers has ranged from discomfort, pain, to wrist surgery. Therefore, hand tool prototypes were ergonomically designed and fabricated with the objective to reduce extreme wrist postures found during the actual work. Using the two-axis electrogoniometer, the redesign tools are proved to effectively reduce awkward wrist postures. Additionally, all participants reported preference towards the new hand tools.
