Abstract

This study introduces an opportunistic multiple relays selection scheme based on the equivalent channel gain (ECG) with network coding in wireless cooperative communication system, so as to solve the complexity of channel environment and space diversity caused by broadcasting characteristic of wireless medium. The ECG is obtained by using bit error rate (BER), which reflects the overall channel quality of multiple wireless links. The relay nodes calculate the threshold of ECG via outage probability to get the initial relay sets with better channel quality. To utilize relay resource more efficiently, the linear network coding is also advanced to decrease the data redundancy and reduce the probability of node receiving erroneous packets. Simulations results show that the ECG based opportunistic multiple relays selection with network coding obtains high SNR and low BER, and it gets much more performance gain on the outage probability of end-to-end transmission.
