Abstract

The aim of this study is to compare the original text of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey with its Polish translation by Tomasz Mirkowicz, and to analyse the strategies and techniques employed by the translator. It examines the way the translator dealt with the language variety of the original, its register, proper names, the use of capital letters, and text formatting. It argues that the modifications he introduced have made the Polish version of the novel more expressive.
